43rd edition of PRAGATI, chaired by the Prime Minister Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the meeting of the 43rd edition of PRAGATI involving Centre and State governments.
- PRAGATI is the ICT-based multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation. He reviewed eight key projects spread across seven states having cumulative worth around 31 thousand crore rupees.
- Among these, four projects were concerned with water supply and irrigation, two projects for expanding National highways and connectivity, and two projects for rail and metro rail connectivity. These are Bihar, Jharkhand, Haryana, Odisha, West Bengal, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Amit Shah to launch logo, website, and brochure of NCEL
Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will launch a logo, website and brochure of a newly established National Cooperative for Exports Limited (NCEL) at a national symposium in the national capital, New Delhi.
- Shah will also distribute membership certificates to NCEL members at the symposium to be organised at the Pusa complex.
- NCEL came into existence after Shah put an emphasis on the need to establish a national-level multi-state cooperative society to function as an umbrella organisation for exports by the cooperative sector.
Rajasthan govt launched ‘iStart Talent Connect Portal’
In a bid to boost employment opportunities in the state, the Rajasthan government recently launched the ‘iStart Talent Connect Portal’ at Jaipur’s Techno Hub.
- The portal, which has been unveiled under the state government’s flagship initiative, iStart Rajasthan, in collaboration with Jaipur-based startup Hyrefox, has been developed to serve as a user-friendly platform for both job providers and job seekers.
- The platform not only allows companies to discover potential talent but also lets them post job openings and connect with their future employees.
NCERT panel approves proposal to replace India with Bharat in textbooks
National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) panel has proposed to universally replace “India” with “Bharat” in all school textbooks.
- This development comes amid Centre receiving backlash from the Opposition for replacing India with ‘Bharat’ in official documents such as invite, with the first such mention being on an referring him as the “Prime Minister of Bharat”.
Jai Bhim Mukhyamatri Pratibha Vikas Yojna launched by Delhi government
Delhi government is relaunched Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana to provide free coaching to medical, engineering, and civil services aspirants.
- The government was going to introduce more competitive exams under the scheme for which free coaching will be provided to the eligible students.
- The Yojana was launched in 2018 to provide free coaching to Delhi-based students from the SC, ST, OBC and EWS categories to prepare for entrance exams for professional courses (engineering, medical and law) and competitive exams for jobs (civil services and banking). Under the scheme, the Delhi government also paid Rs 2,500 per month as stipend to the students to help them commute to the coaching centres and purchase books and other stationery items.
Jio MAMI film festival began in Mumbai after a 4 year break
One of the most-awaited cultural events of the city, the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, is back after four years. With its focus on South Asian cinema, the festival this year will feature over 250 films spread over 10 days from October 27 to November 5 in Mumbai. Priyanka Chopra is the chairperson for this year’s edition.
- As the festival’s competitive section aims to showcase breakthrough contemporary South Asian films, it will feature 14 films from debutant and second-time filmmakers from across India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal, as well as diaspora filmmakers from the UK and Germany. Some exciting titles in this section are Mithya by Sumant Bhat; Barir Naam Shahana (A House Named Shahana) by Leesa Gazi; and The Red Suitcase by Fidel Devkota.

Reliance Jio partners with Plume to deliver AI-enhanced in-home services
India’s top telecom operator, Reliance Jio Infocomm, announced a partnership with California-based Plume to deliver smart home and small business services to its nearly 200 million subscribers across India, leveraging Plume’s cloud platform.
- With this new partnership, Jio will deploy ‘HomePass’ and ‘WorkPass’ consumer services enabled by Plume’s AI-powered and cloud-based platform, including whole-home adaptive WiFi, connected device and application performance optimisation, cyberthreat protection for connected devices, advanced parental controls, WiFi motion sensing and more.
- Additionally, Jio’s support and operations teams will have access to Plume’s ‘Haystack’ Support and Operations Suite. This suite aids in quicker identification and resolution of performance issues, facilitates the pinpointing of network fault locations, and provides insights into the customer experience.
QatarEnergy inks 27-year LNG supply deal with Italy’s Eni
State-owned QatarEnergy said it would supply Italy’s Eni with gas for 27 years, following similar deals this month to supply the Netherlands via Shell and France through TotalEnergies.
- Affiliates of QatarEnergy and Eni signed a long-term sale and purchase agreement for up to 1 million tons per year (mtpa) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar’s North Field expansion project.
- LNG will be delivered to the FSRU Italia, a floating storage and regasification unit in Tuscany’s port of Piombino from 2026.
HAL, Safran sign MoU to produce engine parts
Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) and Safran Aircraft Engines of France signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop industrial cooperation in manufacturing ring forgings for commercial aircraft engines.
- “HAL will produce LEAP (Leading Edge Aviation Propulsion) engine forgings at its foundry and forge facility in Bengaluru as part of the MoU,” announced HAL.
- The products that HAL and Safran will jointly produce in Bengaluru will power the Airbus A320 Neo family and the Boeing 737 Max single-aisle airliners.

US President Joe Biden awards 2 Indian American scientists with National Medal of Technology and Innovation
Two Indian American scientists were awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation by US President Joe Biden at the White House.
- The two Indian-Americans Ashok Gadgil and Subra Suresh were awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation and the National Medal of Science. President Biden also honoured leading American scientists, technologists, and innovators at the award ceremony.
- The scientists, who were honoured at the event, made discoveries enabling lifesaving medical treatments, helping fight the opioid epidemic, improving food security, advancing accessibility, and much more.
